Fruit fly larvae laid by adult females tunnel through fruits and vegetable pulp, leading to oozing of resinous fluid or premature dropping. Adult fruit flies have a tan abdomen, a blackish, silver-streaked thorax, and clear wings marked with brown bands and grayish flecks.
