Field experience with citrus trees tells us that the best results, in this regard, are obtained when KeyPlex and KeyPlex DP Products are applied regularly as a part of the spray program (see below). Field experience with citrus trees tells us that the best results, in this regard, are obtained when KeyPlex and KeyPlex DP Products are applied regularly as a part of the spray program (see below). Be aware that the trees need 2 to 3 weeks to assimilate and metabolize the products before the trees can begin to help themselves. KeyPlex now offers an alternative to conventional methods of Diaprepes population control. Independent studies carried out by USDA, ARS and IFAS/UF scientists have show that KeyPlex products are very effective in reducing Greasy Spot and Post Bloom Fruit Drop diseases in citrus and can be used effectively for the suppression of these diseases in citrus. KeyPlex can help suppress and/or control these citrus diseases without having a detrimental effect on the population of naturally occurring beneficial entomopathogenic fungi that infect the Diaprepes egg masses. (Click on the underlined section to see the full text of this important information.) KeyPlex Citrus Maintenance Program The KeyPlex maintenance program calls for annual applications of two gallons of KeyPlex or KeyPlex DP per acre. If you are starting with pre-bloom spray, here is the timing:
| Pre-Bloom - 2 quarts/acre
| | Post-Bloom - 2 quarts/acre | | Summer Oil - 2 quarts/acre | | Summer Oil - 2 quarts/acre | If you are starting with post-bloom spray, here is the timing:
| | Post-Bloom - 3 quarts/acre | | Summer Oil - 2 quarts/acre | | Summer Oil - 2 quarts/acre | | N/A |
Note: If only one summer oil spray is planned, an additional 2-quart/acre application should be included with a miticide, or other spray, between the post-bloom application and the summer oil application, but prior to sporulation of the Greasy Spot fungus. Post-Bloom Fruit Drop USDA-ARS tells us that optimum timing for application is approximately two weeks prior to pinhead blossom stage. In seasons with extended bloom periods, a second application 5 weeks after the first application might be needed. Greasy Spot Applications generally coincide with summer oils. However, do not expect results if KeyPlex is applied after sporulation. Seasonal conditions might warrant an additional late-season application. Superior Greasy Spot and rind blotch suppression was shown in an IFAS study using KeyPlex DP. Click on article title to view Greasy Spot research results: |
